The Artist
Artist Statement
I am, at heart, an abstract artist who works in kilnformed glass. Over the decades,
I have focused on deep reliefs, cast glass sculptures, and large draped sculptures.
Most recently, I have been creating more complex, textured surfaces, cross
sections, and topographies in glass. I continue to explore color overlay
techniques, which can be extremely expressive. And I have also been exploring
new ways of shaping glass into large forms that can reflect and embody Western
landscapes. These approaches, and more, have been shaping my most recent
works in kilnformed glass.
About the Artist
Bobbi Vischi works in kilnformed, flameworked, and cast glass. Over the decades,
she has made a wide variety of colorful and flowing vessels, wall art, large
sculptural art, and architectural art. Bobbi received her BFA and MFA from the
University of Utah, where she performed in Ballet West and taught at the
university. She enjoyed her career as a professional dancer, choreographer, guest
artist, and educator for more than 25 years. For the past 30 years, Bobbi has been
a studio glass artist and educator, specializing in kilnformed glass. She was a
founding director, artist-in-residence, and faculty member of the Art Glass Center
in Glen Echo National Park, Maryland, which she helped expand into a center for
artistic creation and teaching, with more than 60 courses in kilnformed glass art a
year. Since 2009, she has been the artist/owner of the Bobbi Vischi Art Glass
Studio in the Boulder-Denver area of Colorado. The studio specializes in sculptural
and architectural kilnformed glass art and offers art glass commissions. Bobbi’s
art glass has received many awards and has been featured in galleries, magazines,
national exhibitions, and private collections internationally.

Bobbi's art is notable for its expressive content and its mastery of the
